A weekend of music: the city turns into a sound-filled journey to experience
From May 23 to 25, 2025, Milan will transform into a grand stage for the fifteenth edition of Piano City Milano, a festival celebrating the piano with over 250 free concerts across more than 130 locations throughout the city. Among the numerous venues, the Brera district stands out for its rich and diverse musical offerings.
Brera will host a series of events ranging from classical music to jazz, involving institutional spaces, professional studios, and museums.
Here is a selection of the most significant events:
📍LCA Studio Legale – Via della Moscova, 18
In collaboration with Steinway & Sons and Studio Irvine, LCA Studio Legale presents “Piano Promenade in Moscova” on May 24. This series of concerts will take place across the internal courtyard of the firm at Via della Moscova 18, the Steinway showroom at Largo G. Donegani 3, and Studio Irvine at Via Moscova 7. Featured artists include Guido Orso Coppin, Wakana Marlene Tanaka, Federico Daniel, Anna Rigoni, and Giacomo Tora.
📍Vitale Barberis Canonico – Via Solferino, 23
On May 24 at 11:00 AM, at the space on Via Solferino 23, piano students from the De Amicis Music School will perform the concert “Weaving the Notes,” showcasing young talents in a refined setting.
📍Triennale Milano – Viale Alemagna, 6
Triennale Milano, one of the city’s main cultural centers, will host musical events as part of the festival. Among these, pianist Milan Slijepčević will perform works by Robert Schumann, Claude Debussy, and Aleksandr Skrjabin, offering the public performances that blend art and music in an exceptional architectural context.
📍ADI Design Museum – Piazza Compasso d’Oro, 1
The ADI Design Museum participates in Piano City Milano 2025 with concerts celebrating the intersection of design and music. On May 24 at 11:00 AM, “Under the Lid,” a lecture-concert on the art of piano technicians, will be presented by Mauro Maestri and Salvatore Tarantino. On May 25 at 7:00 PM, Veronique Vanhoucke and Francesco Leprino will present “George Crumb: Metamorphoses,” a concert for piano and live video.
📍Castello Sforzesco – Piazza Castello
The historic symbol of Milan, Castello Sforzesco, will be the setting for concerts within the festival’s rich program. Notably, on May 24 at 1:00 PM in the Ducal Courtyard, “The Piano of Maurice Ravel,” a listening guide curated by Maestro Vincenzo Balzani, will feature the extraordinary participation of Vsevolod Dvorkin and young pianists selected by Pianofriends.
📍Teatro alla Scala – Via Filodrammatici, 2
The prestigious Teatro alla Scala joins the festival with events that highlight the Italian musical tradition. On May 24, in the Ridotto dei Palchi, “Aimez-vous Brahms?” will be presented, a series of three performances dedicated to the works of Johannes Brahms, with introductions by Professor Anna Quaranta and performances by young pianists such as Sofia Donato, Giulia Zampieri, and Saya Ota.
📍Eataly Milano Smeraldo – Piazza XXV Aprile
Eataly Milano Smeraldo, known for its gastronomic offerings, participates in Piano City Milano 2025 by hosting musical performances that combine the pleasure of good food with live music.
📍Milan Civic Arena – Viale Giorgio Byron, 2
The Milan Civic Arena will be one of the outdoor locations hosting concerts during the festival. On May 24 at 5:00 AM, Angelo Trabace will perform a special concert, presenting pieces from his new album “Abbash,” offering the public the opportunity to experience music in a dynamic urban setting.
📍CAM Garibaldi – Corso Garibaldi, 27
The Multifunctional Aggregation Center (CAM) Garibaldi will host musical events involving the local community, offering spaces for sharing and active participation in the festival.
📍Poldi Pezzoli Museum – Via Manzoni, 12
The Poldi Pezzoli Museum, renowned for its art collections, participates in Piano City Milano 2025 with concerts held in its elegant halls, creating a dialogue between music and art.
