A journey through history, nature, and discovery at the Brera Botanical Garden
This historic green oasis, founded in 1774 by Maria Theresa of Austria, is a haven of peace and beauty in the heart of the city, where history meets science and nature.
The Brera Botanical Garden, an integral part of the Brera Academy, was originally established as a teaching garden for students of medicine and pharmacology. Over the centuries, it has become an important centre for research and scientific dissemination, preserving rare and precious botanical species. Its orderly flowerbeds and shaded paths offer visitors a journey through biodiversity, while its ancient trees tell stories of bygone times.
To mark the summer solstice, on Sunday 23 June 2024, the Brera Botanical Garden will open its doors from 10:00 to 18:00, with free entry for all. The day will be rich with activities suitable for all ages, available by reservation.

Guided Tours
Discover Hidden Wonders
Times: 10:30, 12:00, 15:00, 16:30 (duration 1 hour)
The guided tours will take you through the hidden collection of the Botanical Garden. You can admire the historic ceramic labels of the Ginori company, a true treasure that tells the history and botany of this enchanting place. The labels, displayed in the Vitman Hall, are testimonies of the past that speak of an era when science and art were closely intertwined.

Workshop for children and teenagers
A creative journey between art and botany
Times: 15:30 (duration 2 hours)
Age: 7-13 years
The workshop “Name the Plant” offers a unique opportunity for young people to explore their creativity. During the workshop, children and teenagers will rediscover the historic ceramic labels of Ginori and be inspired to invent new names for the plants. An activity that combines art and botany, stimulating imagination and interest in the natural world.
