Piano City Milan 2026: three days in which music envelops the city

From 15 to 17 May, over 250 concerts transform Milan into a vast, open-air stage. In the Brera district, the piano moves through historic hotels, cultural foundations and landmark spaces of contemporary creativity.

From 15 to 17 May, Piano City Milan 2026 returns, the festival that for sixteen editions has transformed Milan into an open and shared sonic geography. Promoted by the Piano City Milan Association together with the City of Milan, this year’s edition involves over 250 artists and more than 140 locations across the city, confirming its status as one of the most distinctive and inclusive cultural events in the Milanese landscape.

Piano City Milan continues to stand out for its ability to bring music outside conventional venues, moving through theatres, museums, courtyards, hotels, libraries, squares and regenerated urban spaces. A festival that each year succeeds in engaging diverse audiences, bringing together international concerts and neighbourhood-scale experiences, musical experimentation and cultural accessibility.

The 2026 edition opens on Friday 15 May at GAM – Galleria d’Arte Moderna with a concert by Sofiane Pamart, one of the most widely listened-to contemporary pianists in the world, and continues over three days with a programme that blends classical music, jazz, electronic music, improvisation and new contemporary sounds.

In the Brera district, Piano City Milan takes shape through concerts hosted in historic hotels, cultural foundations, museums, urban spaces and venues dedicated to design and contemporary creativity. For three days, the neighbourhood becomes a musical itinerary where the piano moves through architecture, courtyards and city spaces, intertwining listening, culture and urban life

Among the main highlights:

📍Castello Sforzesco – Corte Ducale
On Sunday 17 May, the Sforza Castle hosts a musical marathon dedicated to Iberian piano repertoire and to Manuel de Falla on the 150th anniversary of his birth. In the afternoon, space is also given to contemporary music with Federico Bricchetto and the programme “Miniatures and Form” dedicated to Kurtág and Prokofiev. The Castle thus confirms itself as one of the festival’s most evocative settings.

📍Giangiacomo Feltrinelli Foundation – Viale Pasubio 5
At the Giangiacomo Feltrinelli Foundation, the festival hosts one of the most intense events of the 2026 edition: Bachar Mar-Khalifé explores the Lebanese roots of his music in dialogue with journalist and radio author Marzia Puleo. A meeting that intertwines concert, storytelling and cultural identity.

📍ADI Design Museum – Piazza Compasso d’Oro, 1
Among the most significant venues in the district is the ADI Design Museum. The programme includes contributions by Carlo Boccadoro, a tribute to György Kurtág with young talents led by Mariagrazia Bellocchio, the Piano Lesson “Piano Galaxy” with Enzo Beacco and Ricciarda Belgiojoso, and a reinterpretation of Brian Eno’s “Music for Airports” by Enrico Gabrielli. A calendar that perfectly reflects the identity of the venue: a space where creativity, design and research engage in an interdisciplinary dialogue.

📍Casa Brera – Piazzetta M. Bossi, 2
Among the new locations in the district stands out Casa Brera, a Luxury Collection Hotel, hosting Antonio Davì with “Piano without Borders”, a programme that moves between Bach, Chopin and auteur cinema.

📍Grand Hotel et de Milan – Via A. Manzoni 29
In the heart of the historic centre, the Grand Hotel et de Milan once again becomes one of the symbolic locations of Piano City. On Saturday 16 May, pianist Yazan Greselin presents a musical journey “from Bach to the present day”, while on Sunday 17 May Beatrice Nicholas brings classical music and swing into dialogue.

📍Edicola Civic Garibaldi – Corso Garibaldi 83
The social project “Community Harmonies” begins on Friday 15 May at Edicola Civic in the Garibaldi area, where at 6.00 pm the young Eduardo Elia Amore opens the programme with his original compositions, transforming a everyday urban space into a place of listening and sharing.

📍Casa delle Donne – Via Marsala 8
On Saturday 16 May, the Casa delle Donne in Milan hosts a concert by New York musician Noa Fort, blending jazz, improvisation and contemporary music in a performance dedicated to femininity, peace and hope.

📍Vitali Barberis Canonico Space – Via Solferino 23
The Vitali Barberis Canonico Space joins the festival itinerary as a meeting point between design culture and musical experimentation, strengthening the link between the Brera district and the world of design.

📍CDQ Corso Garibaldi – Corso Garibaldi 27
The participation of the Corso Garibaldi district committee confirms Piano City Milan’s strong local roots, continuing to involve associations, communities and local realities within a widespread programme capable of crossing the entire urban fabric.
