14 and 15 September the courtyards of Castello Sforzesco transform into a vibrant creative space with workshops and activities for everyone, dedicated to the magic of drawing.
The Festival del Disegno, organised by Fabriano, returns to Milan on 14th and 15th September 2024 for its ninth edition. The event, which will continue throughout Italy until 13th October, invites enthusiasts of all ages to embark on a boundless creative adventure with a rich programme of workshops, activities, and meetings designed to explore the world through drawing.
This year’s festival, inspired by the illustrator and muralist Jacopo Ghisoni, known as Luogo Comune, opens with an imaginary exploration of distant worlds, from volcanoes to tropical forests, and even a starry sky. This edition celebrates drawing as a tool for discovery and reflection, uniting people of all ages through the universal language of visual art.
The heart of the event will be held in the courtyards of Milan’s Castello Sforzesco, featuring a series of free workshops, activities, and live performances. Following this, the festival will extend to over 300 cities across Italy, bringing the art of drawing to museums, schools, libraries, and cultural spaces from the north to the south of the country.

With its 760 years of tradition in paper production, Fabriano continues to champion the value of drawing, not just as an art form but also as a powerful educational tool and a means of personal well-being. The festival offers an opportunity to rediscover the therapeutic power of drawing, promoting concentration and relaxation in an increasingly hectic world.

Among the highlights of the two-day event in Milan is the live drawing performance by Luogo Comune, which will close the festival on Sunday evening, inviting participants to collaborate in the creation of a drawn story. The Festival del Disegno is an open invitation to everyone: a chance to have fun, learn, and unleash your creativity on paper.
