The international gallery Thaddaeus Ropac will inaugurate its first location in Italy on September 20, with an exhibition that brings Lucio Fontana and Georg Baselitz into dialogue.
The new opening takes place on the edge of Brera, where the historic Palazzo Belgioioso becomes the ideal stage for the seventh gallery by Thaddaeus Ropac. The Austrian gallerist, internationally renowned, has launched and represented artists such as Basquiat and Keith Haring, and already boasts established locations in Paris, London and Salzburg.
The new gallery spans 280 m² over multiple floors, housing exhibition rooms, offices, and areas dedicated to installations. The project also aims to enhance the adjacent square, transforming it into a public art space where sculptures and monumental works will be accessible to all.

The Milan branch is directed by Elena Bonanno di Linguaglossa, who brings over twenty years of international experience in modern and contemporary art. Her role will be to develop a cultural program that combines prestigious events with a strong connection to the city, engaging both collectors and museums.
The inauguration on September 20, 2025, will feature the exhibition L’aurora viene, which brings together two key figures in contemporary art: Georg Baselitz, with recent paintings and sculptures, and Lucio Fontana, with works spanning the 1930s to the 1960s. The exhibition focuses on space, the human body, and the origins of artistic form.
