Ross Gardam’s Luminescent Duality in Milan

An exhibition examining the interplay of light, shadow, and form, encouraging contemplation of the unseen forces that influence perception through refined glass works

For Milan Design Week 2025, Ross Gardam presented LUMINESCENT DUALITY, an immersive exhibition that explored the delicate coexistence of opposing forces in object design. The show examined light and shadow, clarity and obscurity, inviting visitors to question how light is truly perceived.

Through carefully crafted installations, Gardam demonstrated the transformative nature of light interacting with colour, texture, and form, simultaneously concealing and unveiling. The exhibition suggested that perception extended beyond these physical interactions, shaped instead by personal experience and memory. By shifting focus from the motifs themselves to the forces behind them, visitors were invited to consider what lies beyond the visible.

Launching three new collections, each piece reflects a pursuit of excellence and experimentation with diverse glass techniques. SOLACE is a luminous glass tear that transforms with movement, revealing two distinct identities in light and form. Inspired by the delicate beauty of clouds, AERIS embodies softness and lightness through repeated sculptural forms, creating a captivating centrepiece. A mirror that offers no reflection, RELIC presents a monolithic cone with a mirror-like surface, an optical device designed to reveal the dualities within.

LUMINESCENT DUALITY offered new perspectives on light’s elemental force, encouraging reflection on the contrasts that define and enhance one another. Learn more via ROSSGARDAM.COM.AU
