Brera Neighbours: The District Tells Its Story, One Neighbour at a Time

The new Filippo De Laurentiis boutique hosted the first edition of Brera Neighbours, a new format created by Brera Design District to foster dialogue throughout the year among the people, brands and businesses that bring the district to life.

Brera Design District is not only alive during Design Week. It is a neighbourhood inhabited every day by brands, showrooms, boutiques and professionals who share the same streets, often without ever truly getting to know one another. This observation inspired Brera Neighbours: a series of gatherings designed to encourage conversation and exchange among the district’s “neighbours”, beyond the institutional framework of industry events.

The initiative has a twofold objective. On the one hand, it offers an informal networking opportunity away from the fast-paced rhythm of Design Week. On the other, it aims to create new connections over time among the businesses and professionals that shape Brera’s fabric, strengthening a district identity measured not only by the square metres of its showrooms, but by the quality of the relationships between those who live and work here every day. Each event is hosted by a different local business, giving it the opportunity to take centre stage while introducing itself to the neighbourhood.

The First Gathering at Filippo De Laurentiis

The debut of the format coincided with an important milestone for one of the district’s newest arrivals: the opening of the Filippo De Laurentiis boutique at Via Solferino 2. For the occasion, the brand opened its doors to the neighbourhood, welcoming guests alongside company management and combining the first Brera Neighbours gathering with its official introduction to the local community.

A fitting beginning, as Brera Neighbours was also conceived to support the arrival of new businesses in the district, offering them a direct way to connect with the people who live and work in Brera every day.

Founded in Pescara in 2013 by a family with a long-standing knitwear tradition, Filippo De Laurentiis draws its identity from this artisanal heritage. The brand creates refined, essential garments centred on premium yarns and entirely Made in Italy craftsmanship, embracing a contemporary vision of elegance that values substance over excess.

In recent years, the company has embarked on a direct retail expansion strategy, with the Brera boutique representing one of its first milestones alongside the opening of a sister store in Rome. The spaces are understated and suspended in atmosphere, defined by essential materials and clean lines that allow the knitwear to remain the true protagonist. This trajectory reflects a young brand already rooted in an international distribution network, now writing a new chapter in its story in the heart of Brera.

With the first edition of Brera Neighbours, the district introduces a new way of telling its story: not only through the events that animate it for one week a year, but through the relationships that keep it alive throughout the seasons.
