Living explored through art, architecture and community
From 11 to 16 June 2025, the international festival Cara Casa arrives in Milan, inviting the city to reflect on contemporary living across generations and communities through talks, installations and workshops.
In Brera, the programme — curated by the Ordine degli Architetti PPC di Milano and Fondazione OAMi — turns the headquarters in Via Solferino into a hub of dialogue and design.

Living in Milan: current housing policies and future perspectives

The opening event marks the start of Milan’s second edition of Cara Casa and provides an opportunity to examine both actions and research undertaken on the theme of the home and to continue reflecting on Milan’s situation within the national context. Organised by the OAMi Foundation, the Social Housing Foundation and AmbienteAcqua APS, the debate brings together scholars, public administrators and sector professionals. The discussion will cover initiatives already underway, ongoing research and future scenarios for a more inclusive and liveable city.
Participants include Marialisa Santi, Francesca Cognetti, Fabio Bottero, Giorgio Mantoan, Simone Dragone, Maria Grazia Campese, Chiara Rizzica, Emmanuel Conte, Matteo Busnelli and Andrea Tobia Zevi, with Giordana Ferri moderating.

Arketipo meets the Chamber: Housing

Part of the 2025 series organised by Arketipo magazine in collaboration with the OAMi Foundation, this evening focuses on the theme of housing. Today, living is a profound responsibility for architecture—not just constructing spaces, but expressing collective aspirations toward more sustainable, inclusive and dignified ways of life.
The event features architects Matteo Ruta, Gianluca Peluffo and Davide Desiderio, who will present design case studies and reflections on architecture’s role in envisioning new forms of communal life. This talk sits within the broader Cara Casa festival as a deep dive into the value of conscious living.
The Milan programme of Cara Casa is completed by a series of initiatives that broaden the perspective on living as a shared and transformative experience.
On 13 June, at ARIA Ex Macello, the workshop “New Domestic Landscapes” explores innovative forms of cohabitation. On 14 June, at Biblioteca Calvairate, two workshops will take place: “Cara la mia casa!”, dedicated to children, and “The Neighbourhood I Want”, designed for adults—both focused on sustainable and participatory living.
The festival concludes on 16 June with the talk “Living Well” at BiG – Borgo Intergenerazionale Greco, the third event in the Milano Plurale series, curated by Gabriele Pasqui with Alessandro Alì and promoted by Fondazione OAMi. An opportunity to reflect on the relationship between home, wellbeing, and new forms of urban welfare.
