The Fondazione Movimento di Corrente ETS was founded in 1978 on the initiative of Ernesto Treccani, Lidia De Grada Treccani and long-time artist and intellectual friends such as Raffaellino De Grada, Vittorio Sereni, Alberto Lattuada, Mario Spinella and Fulvio Papi, with the aim of promoting the study of the period of cultural renewal that spans from the Movimento di Corrente to Realism.
Together with the Ernesto Treccani Studio, the Foundation is based in the so-called Casa delle Rondini (House of Swallows), with its façade entirely decorated with polychrome majolica tiles by Ernesto Treccani, in Via Carlo Porta 5 in Milan.
A cultural centre spread over three floors, Corrente houses a specialised library and various archival collections and organises a rich programme of temporary exhibitions and conferences every year, ranging from political philosophy to aesthetics, from art history to urban planning, from psychoanalysis to literature, from theatre to photography, with a particular focus on the 20th century and current issues.
