Palazzo Molteni is located in the heart of Milan, a few steps from Piazza della Scala, at 9 Via Manzoni. The historic, seven-storey building was erected in the late 19th century as a neoclassical residence for a prominent Milanese family and underwent extensive renovation in Art Nouveau style in 1922 by the Italian architects Giuseppe Mentasti and Stefano Lissoni.
The space has been reimagined by Vincent Van Duysen as an urban Pavilion, an eclectic and welcoming meeting place, an experimental formula, not just a showroom or shop, but an open and flexible place, a destination for design lovers where Molteni&C's culture of quality living comes to life.
The top two floors are dedicated to the headquarters of Molteni Galleria, the corporate area for events and cultural meetings.
Palazzo Molteni retains the intimate and subtly introverted character that distinguishes Milanese buildings. Vincent Van Duysen has imagined an itinerary through the building's seven floors and more than 3,000 square metres of floor space, in a succession of very different spaces that recall the original layout of the historic residence. As a whole, it represents an ecosystem of mutual enhancement between art and design, creating a great showcase of Italian lifestyle.
