Dilmos was founded in 1980 as an exhibition space for high-end designer furniture featuring iconic modern objects along with the production of manufacturers at the forefront of contemporary design.
Within a few years a growing awareness for the intrinsic poetic value and significance of designed objects convinced Dilmos to shift its curatorial approach and to partner directly with artists and designers to produce exclusive objects with strong narrative qualities.
As such the Alessandro Mendini exhibition of 1985 paved the way for the many creative collaborations that have distinguished Dilmos’ 30 plus years of unique furniture designs.
Characteristic of Dilmos’ idiosyncratic output is a shared element in the nature of its designed works.
While they retain a functional identity these objects also operate as expressive vehicles for the individual designer’s own research and inner dialogue becoming a poetic means of communication with the external world.
Through the years Dilmos’ design philosophy has steered away from homogeneity of style fostering instead a passion for poetry and communication through the different idioms and thought processes belonging to the large family of its creative collaborators.
Looking ahead Dilmos’ aim is to continue in its collaborative efforts to challenge, nurture and grow its creative horizons.
