An exhibition celebrating half a century of elegance and vision at the Pinacoteca di Brera
One of the undisputed icons of Italian fashion chooses Brera to celebrate an anniversary that goes beyond a simple recurrence: it is a tribute to the city, to the neighbourhood he has made his own, and to the identity of a unique style. To mark the fiftieth anniversary of the maison’s founding, Giorgio Armani will be the focus of a major exhibition at the Pinacoteca di Brera, from 24th September 2025 to 3rd March 2026.
The exhibition – curated in collaboration with the Pinacoteca – represents a historic moment: for the first time, fashion will officially enter the halls of the Milanese museum, creating a dialogue between art and garment, between painting and silhouette. The show – entitled “Giorgio Armani. Milano, per amore” – will present a selection of garments from the ARMANI/Archivio, narrating fifty years of creativity, consistency, and vision.
The link with Brera is no coincidence: Armani himself has often declared that he feels this neighbourhood is his ideal home, a vital place in which to live and work, where the soul and culture are nurtured. It is no accident that, back in 1993, the Accademia di Belle Arti awarded the designer an honorary degree for the coherence and quality of his stylistic research.
The exhibition invites visitors to be surprised by the dialogue between fashion and painting, between chromatic and material contrasts, between invention and tradition. The garments narrate the variety of themes and codes that have made Giorgio Armani unmistakable: essential tailoring, a unique sense of decoration, a preference for neutral colours, the richness of workmanship and embroidery, and a measured elegance that constantly renews itself without ever losing sobriety.
This exhibition stands apart from previous ones thanks to the setting in which it unfolds: for the first time, the Pinacoteca opens its doors to fashion, strengthening its educational and interpretative mission, with a gaze firmly fixed on contemporary society.
On 28 September 2025, just a few days after the opening of the exhibition, the Cortile d’Onore of Brera will become the stage for a special fashion show, reserved for a select group of international guests. On the catwalk, the women’s spring–summer 2026 collection will be unveiled in a symbolic event that celebrates Milan as a cultural and creative capital, while also marking a return to the origins of the maison.
“Giorgio Armani: Milano, per amore” thus becomes a milestone in the history of costume and art, capable of offering the public not only the legacy of a style, but also the testimony of how fashion can engage in dialogue with the languages of culture and tell universal stories.
The exhibition – organised under the patronage of the Ministry of Culture and with the support of the Pinacoteca di Brera – takes place in a season in which the Brera Design District is increasingly active in enhancing the languages of design and the connections between design, fashion, art, and innovation. An event that reflects the district’s multidisciplinary vocation, able to welcome new narratives and transform them into public experiences.
Giorgio Armani – 50 Years of Fashion is more than a celebration: it is a reflection on time, on identity, and on elegance as a cultural language. An opportunity to discover how fashion, when it encounters art, can tell stories that endure.
