The 19th century Teatro Fossati reopened its curtain in 1986 to become the Teatro Studio. Born as an experimental space and as a "gymnasium" for the young students of the Scuola di Teatro del Piccolo, the Teatro Studio, with its circular layout, is highly appreciated by directors from all over the world for the special relationship established between actors and audience. It is named after the actress Mariangela Melato.
