A collaboration between art and wallcovering by Casamance

Casamance invites you on a journey through an exclusive collaboration with the artist Elsa Jeandedieu, who has created two exceptional wall decors where art and texture meet

French editor of fine fabrics and wallcoverings, Casamance seizes the moment to renew an artistic collaboration bringing ever more modernity, French-style elegance and refinement to its creations. The French decorator and artist, Elsa Jeandedieu, has been living in Hong Kong for 18 years. Her artistic universe is deeply rooted in sensory experiences which she explores with wall-art creating uniquely-textured frescos using her signature “Oscillation” technique.

The encounter between Elsa Jeandedieu and Casamance is an opportunity to combine the current creative direction of the artist with the editor’s renowned expertise. «Murmures du Mistral» and «La Danse des Sampans», the wallcoverings resulting from this collaboration, tell of a journey between the West and the East. Elsa’s French origins and her time in Asia inspire discovery and  adventure, bringing together her heritage and her home as a harmonious and unique blend. Lime finishes, natural pigments and copper and gold leaf, the artist carefully explores each material. She uses oscillating movements and ripples inspired by Tweed designs, accentuating some parts with one of her personal finishes. These gestures are both precise and poetic, adding rhythm to bring the designs to life.

For Casamance, reproducing these works of art in a large format whilst retaining the delicacy of the embossed textures opens up a new fields of innovation.

As for La Danse des Sampans, the wallcovering uses a 3D embossing technique on textile meticulously selected from the Casamance fabrics collection. This design celebrates Asia and Elsa’s fascination with traditional sailboats rocking with the currents. Deep redbrowns, softly faded oranges and delicate beiges: natural colours inspired by ancient dyeing techniques traditionally used for Chinese sailcloth. These panoramic wallpanels invite you to immerse yourself in the gentle swells and luminous warmth of Hong Kong harbour.

Murmures du Mistral, the wallcovering is embellished with hand-applied gold-leaf, for an exquisite and unique finish. This creation pays tribute to southern France where the artist spent her childhood. A warm palette of beiges, ochres and terracotta is lifted by blue and gold accents inspired by sundrenched Mediterranean landscapes.
