Today’s Masters Meet Tomorrow’s Talents

The Michelangelo Foundation for Creativity and Craftsmanship presents original objects handcrafted during the second edition of its Homo Faber Fellowship programme.

This exhibition showcases original objects designed and handcrafted by 23 international duos – each comprising a master artisan and an emerging talent – who took part in the 2024/25 edition of Homo Faber Fellowship.

A signature education programme of the Michelangelo Foundation, Homo Faber Fellowship pairs selected craft graduates – the ‘fellows’ – with master artisans across Europe for a seven-month sponsored professional integration programme. By bringing craftspeople together, the Fellowship facilitates creative collaboration, enables master artisans to pass down their skills to the next generation, and helps further the careers of emerging new talents.

This second edition features artisans of 20 nationalities working in 9 European countries across 18 crafts. Their unique objects are inspired by Art Deco, a theme chosen by the Fellowship’s supporting partner Jaeger-LeCoultre. Among them, visitors will discover a ‘knitted’ lighting installation, a 3D mirror made of movable leather discs, and other fascinating pieces crafted using techniques including felting, puppetmaking, marble carving and willow weaving. Together, they demonstrate the power of collaboration and attest to the bright future of craft.

Today’s Masters Meet Tomorrow’s Talents is part of the House of Switzerland Milano’s collective exhibition highlighting collaboration in the global design industry.
