Caleido Social Hotel: Five leading Italian design brands (Sitia, Codutti, Olev, Matteo Pala, and Opificio) take center stage in an immersive experience that goes beyond a traditional exhibition.
Caleido Social Hotel (Via Solferino 14 & Piazza San Marco 3) is a concept hotel where five Italian design companies showcase a curated selection of furniture (Sitia, Codutti, and Opificio) and accessories (Olev lighting and Matteo Pala rugs), integrating them into the “social areas” of a concept hotel. The project is curated by Caleido Diary and designed by MM Company. We interview Barbieri Magalini, the project’s curators.
How did this project come to life?
Caleido Social Hotel was born from the desire to explore the role of hospitality in contemporary society. Today, hotels are no longer just places of transit but true spaces for connection, conviviality, and remote working. After the success of Caleido Contract Café in 2024, we wanted to expand the concept and elevate it to a new level with the Caleido Social Hotel—a dynamic environment that reflects these evolving functions. We hope visitors will not only discover new brands and products but also experience design in a more personal and interactive way.
Which brands collaborated on the project?
This initiative brings together five outstanding Italian design brands with authentic DNA: Sitia, Codutti, Olev, Matteo Pala, and Opificio. Each company contributes uniquely to the project. Sitia specializes in high-quality upholstered furniture, while Codutti provides solutions for workspaces and contract environments. Olev has curated the lighting with smart solutions that enhance guests’ well-being. Matteo Pala introduces the charm of artisanal textile craftsmanship with rugs that blend tradition and innovation. Meanwhile, Opificio completes the selection with premium-quality Italian-made furniture, particularly sideboards and bookcases.
What is the concept behind Caleido Social Hotel?
The central idea is a hotel that goes beyond mere accommodation, stimulating interaction and creativity. Design becomes a medium to connect people and enhance their experience. To achieve this, we have created spaces that naturally encourage socialization: from lounges to networking areas, everything is designed to be experienced in a spontaneous and Instagrammable way.
