The project investigates the potential of matter and surfaces based on the concept of double <\/h2>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

On the occasion of the Milan Design Week 2024, FENIX\u00ae – together with the Broadview Holding brands: Arpa\u00ae, Formica\u00ae and Homapal\u00ae – presents the Design Duo Double Feature project, curated by Federica Sala<\/strong> and hosted within the spaces of FENIX Scenario, in Foro Buonaparte 66.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Design Duo Double Feature is a work of exploration that investigates the multiple potentialities of materials and surfaces starting from the concept of double: six pairs of designers have been invited to design furniture elements with a double use, created by combining FENIX\u00ae materials with the other brands of the group. The products will also be presented in the ‘scenario’ of a double installation – indoor and outdoor – created by the design duo Studioboom. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

“It has always fascinated me how, in architecture and design to a greater extent than in other disciplines, several creative couples are active. A creative couple, whether only in their professional life or also in their private life matters little, must necessarily exercise the difficult art of dialogue and mediation in order to be able to synthesise the input of two different heads into a design solution. To illustrate the extreme versatility of FENIX\u00ae, on its own or combined with other materials, we have therefore decided to multiply the heads involved in the project in order to stimulate lateral thinking and, consequently, double projects: in form, function, transformation…”<\/p>\nFederica Sala<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Selected by curator Federica Sala, CARA \\ DAVIDE, DWA Design Studio, Martinelli Venezia, N\u00e6ssi Studio, mist-o and Zanellato\/Bortotto<\/strong> will create objects that explore new multifaceted functions by playing on transformability, mobility, sustainability and versatility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a preview of the project, FENIX presents the Match table designed by Martinelli Venezia, which interprets the concept of doubles through colour, function and irony. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The round shape and cylindrical base recall the classic dining table, while the central folding of the top transforms the object into a ping-pong table, suggesting the idea that at the end of the meal diners can challenge each other to a match. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n

“When we were involved in the project, the aim was to offer a new vision of this material with its multiple properties, and the theme of the curve seemed an interesting point of view. The alternation of the two colours used accentuates the concept of duality present in the object in a play of dynamic contrasts: function\/disfunction, conviviality\/rivalry and formal\/informal.”<\/p>\n Carolina Martinelli and Vittorio Venezia<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Match thus refers both to the idea of play and challenge and to the combination of colours and materials. The table top, as well as the base and rackets, alternate between two different colours of FENIX\u00ae – Mal\u00e9 White and Namib Red – while the construction process of the object suggests different possibilities of combining FENIX\u00ae with materials such as wood and metal. In fact, the table-tennis ‘net’ was created by exploiting the characteristics of a multifaceted material like FENIX\u00ae, which can be curved to create soft shapes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For FENIX\u00ae, the project became an opportunity to explore, together with Italian and international designers, the field of furniture design, proposing unexpected uses of surfaces and novel solutions.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Design Duo Double Feature \u00e8 un lavoro di esplorazione che investiga le molteplici potenzialit\u00e0 della materia e delle superfici partendo dal concetto del doppio: sei coppie di progettisti sono state invitate a disegnare elementi di arredo con un duplice utilizzo, realizzati combinando i materiali FENIX\u00ae con gli altri brand del gruppo. I prodotti, inoltre, saranno presentati nello \u00abscenario\u00bb di un doppio allestimento \u2013 indoor e outdoor \u2013 realizzato dal design duo Studioboom<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Mi ha sempre affascinato come, nell\u2019architettura e nel design in modo pi\u00f9 rilevante rispetto ad altre discipline, siano attive diverse coppie creative. Una coppia creativa, che lo sia solo nella vita professionale o anche in quella privata poco importa, deve necessariamente esercitare la difficile arte del dialogo e della mediazione per poter poi sintetizzare, in una soluzione progettuale, gli input di due teste differenti. Per raccontare quindi l\u2019estrema versatilit\u00e0 di FENIX\u00ae, da solo o abbinato ad altri materiali, abbiamo quindi pensato di moltiplicare le teste implicate nel progetto cos\u00ec da stimolare il pensiero laterale e, conseguentemente, dei progetti anch\u2019essi doppi: nella forma, nella funzione, nella trasformazione\u2026\"<\/em><\/p>\nFederica Sala<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Selezionati dalla curatrice Federica Sala, CARA \\ DAVIDE, DWA Design Studio, Martinelli Venezia, N\u00e6ssi Studio, mist-o e Zanellato\/Bortotto<\/strong> daranno vita ad oggetti che esplorano nuove poliedriche funzioni giocando su trasformabilit\u00e0, mobilit\u00e0, sostenibilit\u00e0 e versatilit\u00e0.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ad anticipare il progetto, FENIX presenta in anteprima il tavolo Match firmato da Martinelli Venezia che interpreta il concetto del doppio attraverso colore, funzione e ironia. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

La forma rotonda e la base cilindrica richiamano il classico tavolo da pranzo, mentre la piegatura centrale del piano trasforma l\u2019oggetto in un tavolo da ping-pong, suggerendo l\u2019idea che a fine pasto i commensali possano sfidarsi in una partita.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Quando siamo stati coinvolti nel progetto l\u2019obiettivo era offrire una nuova visione di questo materiale dalle molteplici propriet\u00e0 e il tema della curva ci \u00e8 sembrato un punto di vista interessante. L\u2019alternanza dei due colori utilizzati accentua il concetto di dualit\u00e0 presente nell\u2019oggetto in un gioco di contrapposizioni dinamiche: funzione\/disfunzione, convivialit\u00e0\/rivalit\u00e0 e formale\/informale.\"<\/em><\/p>\nCarolina Martinelli e Vittorio Venezia<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Match rimanda cos\u00ec sia all\u2019idea del gioco e della sfida sia all\u2019accostamento di colori e materiali. Il piano del tavolo, cos\u00ec come la base e le racchette, alternano due diverse colorazioni di FENIX\u00ae - Bianco Mal\u00e9 e Rosso Namib \u2013 mentre il processo costruttivo dell\u2019oggetto suggerisce diverse possibilit\u00e0 di accostare FENIX\u00ae a materiali come il legno e il metallo. La \u2018rete\u2019 da ping-pong \u00e8 stata infatti realizzata sfruttando le caratteristiche di un materiale poliedrico come FENIX\u00ae, che pu\u00f2 essere curvato per creare forme morbide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Per FENIX\u00ae il progetto diventa un\u2019occasione per esplorare, insieme a designer italiani e internazionali, il settore del furniture design, proponendo utilizzi inaspettati delle superfici e soluzioni inedite.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
