On the occasion of Fuorisalone 2026, the Japanese Maison brings to the heart of Brera Design Week an exhibition journey that interprets the philosophy “The Nature of Time” through installations by three Japanese artists<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

On the occasion of Milan Design Week 2026, Grand Seiko – Official Timekeeper of Fuorisalone and Brera Design Week – presents at the Galleria d\u2019Arte Moderna \u201cIl Castello\u201d an exhibition inspired by the philosophy The Nature of Time<\/em>. Open to the public from April 21 to 26, in the heart of Brera, the project unfolds through a series of installations by three Japanese artists – Atsushi Shindo, Takakuni Kawahara and Shingo Abe – who, through their works, bring into dialogue nature, time and perception.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Grand Seiko\u2019s philosophy, The Nature of Time<\/em>, celebrates a distinctly Japanese spirituality of time. The concept of \u201cnature\u201d, understood both as essence and as environment, is reflected in both the Maison\u2019s watchmaking and the exhibition, shaping a coherent vision between matter, gesture and knowledge. This vision takes form through three distinct yet complementary design practices. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Atsushi Shindo<\/em><\/strong>, interior designer, develops a research guided by the concept of \u201cdesigning atmosphere\u201d, moving across environments, objects and artistic experimentation, reinterpreting elements of everyday life to explore new expressive possibilities of materials and a more essential form of beauty. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Takakuni Kawahara<\/em><\/strong>, master artisan of washi paper and the sole direct heir to the Hiratani Washi tradition of Toyama Prefecture, brings a deeply material approach in which manual craftsmanship becomes the expression of a transmitted body of knowledge, also recognised at an international level. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shingo Abe<\/em><\/strong>, filmmaker and CG director, combines a strong conceptual vision with an essential and minimalist visual language, developed across video, installations and theatre productions, characterised by a strong narrative impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this interplay between design, craftsmanship, and image, time is not merely represented, but experienced\u2014a dimension rooted in Japanese sensibility and in a deep dialogue with nature, finding its expression in the savoir-faire<\/em> of the takumi<\/em>, the master artisans who imbue every Grand Seiko creation with soul.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In occasione della Milano Design Week 2026, Grand Seiko - Official Timekeeper di Fuorisalone e Brera Design Week - presenta alla Galleria d\u2019Arte Moderna \u201cIl Castello\u201d un percorso espositivo ispirato alla filosofia <\/strong>The Nature of Time<\/em><\/strong>. Aperto al pubblico dal 21 al 26 aprile, nel cuore di Brera, il progetto si sviluppa attraverso una serie di installazioni firmate da tre artisti giapponesi \u2013 Atsushi Shindo, Takakuni Kawahara <\/em>e Shingo Abe<\/em> \u2013 che con le loro opere mettono in dialogo natura, tempo e percezione. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

La filosofia di Grand Seiko, The Nature of Time<\/em>, celebra una spiritualit\u00e0 del tempo tipicamente nipponica<\/strong>. Il concetto di \u201cnatura\u201d, inteso sia come essenza sia come ambiente, si riflette tanto nell\u2019orologeria della Maison quanto nel percorso espositivo, dando forma a una visione coerente tra materia, gesto e conoscenza. A dare corpo a questa visione sono tre pratiche progettuali diverse, ma complementari.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Atsushi Shindo<\/strong><\/em>, interior designer, sviluppa una ricerca guidata dal concetto di \u201cdesigning atmosphere\u201d, che si muove tra ambienti, oggetti e sperimentazione artistica, rileggendo elementi della quotidianit\u00e0 per esplorare nuove possibilit\u00e0 espressive dei materiali e una bellezza essenziale. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Takakuni Kawahara<\/strong><\/em>, maestro artigiano della carta washi e unico erede diretto della tradizione Hiratani Washi della Prefettura di Toyama, porta un approccio profondamente materico, in cui la lavorazione manuale diventa espressione di un sapere tramandato e riconosciuto anche a livello internazionale. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shingo Abe<\/strong><\/em>, regista e CG director, affianca a una solida visione concettuale un linguaggio visivo essenziale e minimalista, sviluppato tra video, installazioni e produzioni per il teatro, caratterizzato da un forte impatto narrativo. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In questo intreccio tra progettazione, artigianato e immagine, il tempo non \u00e8 semplicemente rappresentato, ma vissuto: una dimensione che affonda le proprie radici nella sensibilit\u00e0 giapponese e nel dialogo con la natura e che trova espressione nel savoir-faire dei takumi, i maestri artigiani che conferiscono anima a ogni creazione Grand Seiko.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
