{"id":12308,"date":"2025-06-16T11:12:37","date_gmt":"2025-06-16T09:12:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.breradesigndistrict.it\/?p=12308"},"modified":"2025-06-16T11:18:16","modified_gmt":"2025-06-16T09:18:16","slug":"","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.breradesigndistrict.it\/en\/news\/curiosita\/la-prima-statua-dedicata-ad-una-donna\/","title":{"rendered":"The first statue dedicated to a woman","raw":"The first statue dedicated to a woman"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div id=\"introduzione-block_3b89b1a780e0a454b27265372879d5de\" class=\"introduzione\">\n    <h2 class=\"h3\">Cristina Trivulzio di Belgiojoso patriot, central figure of the Italian Renaissance.<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>On 15 September 2021, the first statue dedicated to a female figure, Cristina Trivulzio di Belgiojoso, was unveiled in Milan in the Piazza Belgioioso of the same name.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is impossible to sum up in a few lines the life of Cristina Trivulzio di Belgiojoso, Italian patriot, writer, journalist and noblewoman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She was born in 1808 in Milan and lived her life at the height of the Italian Risorgimento in which she actively participated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Not much is known about her life as a child, the only information is found in some letters exchanged with her friend Ernesta Bisi, who was her drawing teacher and who introduced her to the world of \u201cconspiracy\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She married Emilio Barbiano di Belgiojoso on 24 September 1824, aged just 16.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The marriage did not last long, Emiliano ran off with another countess, but they remained friends until the end of their lives and never officially divorced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cristina was a revolutionary, supported the liberation movement and had to flee from the Austrian government, which frowned upon her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She took refuge in the south of France with no possessions, no money.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She then arrived in Paris, making a living for a few months by teaching music and portraying famous people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She managed to get back on his feet, always following his political struggle, until 1838, when Maria, daughter of an uncertain father, was born. From this moment on, he lived a period of isolation between England and Paris, finally returning to his home in Locate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Locate, she contributed by building kindergartens, a public warming house and donating his dowries to poorer brides. Da questo momento vivr\u00e0 un periodo di isolamento tra l\u2019Inghilterra e Parigi, facendo infine ritorno nella sua dimora di Locate.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>A Locate contribu\u00ec costruendo asili, uno scaldatoio pubblico e donando le sue doti alle spose pi\u00f9 povere.
