A historic residence to tell the story of the Molteni&C world. In the heart of Milan, just steps away from Piazza della Scala – specifically at Via Manzoni 9 – the leading brand in Italian design has just inaugurated its new address. <\/strong>It marks another step in the Group\u2019s growth and internationalization strategy, as it celebrates 90 years of history, and signals the beginning of a new journey devoted to design, its culture, and dialogue with the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Palazzo Molteni is a space open to cultural exchange and to exploring new forms of collaboration<\/strong> – such as the installation of several works by Peter Schuyff, made possible through the support of the MASSIMODECARLO gallery. It\u2019s a vibrant place that connects with the major events that shape the city\u2019s rhythm, maintaining a close relationship with cultural institutions – first and foremost the Poldi Pezzoli Museum, located just across the street. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As visitors move through the rooms of the Flagship Store, they encounter key figures who have shaped and continue to shape the company\u2019s identity<\/strong>: Gio Ponti, Luca Meda, Aldo Rossi, Tobia Scarpa, Jean Nouvel, Herzog & de Meuron, Ron Gilad, and Foster + Partners, among others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The interior project was designed by Vincent Van Duysen<\/strong>, who engages with the tradition of Lombard neoclassicism – filtered through Liberty and Art Deco influences – across more than 3,000 square meters of this monumental 19th-century building. The Belgian architect has created a fluid space, open to transformation and conceived as a \u201cmultifunctional stage\u201d<\/strong> that is easy to reorganize and reshape, while retaining the intimate, subtly introverted character typical of Milanese palazzi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Van Duysen has imagined a journey unfolding across the building\u2019s seven floors<\/strong> – a sequence of diverse environments that establish a continuous dialogue between domestic interiors and open spaces. Grand salons, noble-floor rooms, antechambers, intimate and hidden passages, areas for convivial gatherings, as well as unexpected terraces and rooftop gardens, all create a fluid relationship between inside and outside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As visitors move through the rooms, glimpses of the city gradually reveal themselves, especially from the upper floors, where breathtaking views offer a panoramic look at Milan from above. At the heart of the experience lies the internal courtyard, transformed into an indoor space by a large glass canopy with a bold graphic design<\/strong>.\u00a0This structure incorporates decorative elements – pilasters and friezes – that once adorned the building\u2019s inner fa\u00e7ade. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a palazzo,\u201d <\/em>says Van Duysen, \u201cbut at the same time a domestic universe – an intimate place we wanted to recreate within a grand, alluring monumental building that will be our home. Palazzo Molteni \u00e8 un luogo aperto all'intensificarsi degli scambi culturali e alla ricerca di forme inedite di collaborazione<\/strong> come quella dell'installazione di una serie di opere di Peter Schuyff, grazie al supporto della galleria MASSIMODECARLO. Un luogo vitale in grado di dialogare con i grandi eventi che scandiscono il ritmo della vita della citt\u00e0, e in stretto contatto con le istituzioni culturali, prima fra tutti il Museo Poldi Pezzoli che si trova di fronte. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A firmare il progetto d\u2019interni \u00e8 Vincent Van Duysen<\/strong> che si confronta con la tradizione del neoclassicismo lombardo, mediato da influenze liberty e d\u00e9co, attraverso gli oltre 3.000 mq di questo edificio monumentale di met\u00e0 \u2019800. L\u2019architetto belga ha dato vita a uno spazio fluido, aperto al cambiamento e studiato per funzionare da \u201cstage polifunzionale\u201d<\/strong>, facile da riorganizzare e riconfigurare conservando quel carattere intimo e sottilmente introverso tipico dei palazzi milanesi. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Van Duysen ha quindi immaginato un viaggio che si sviluppa lungo i 7 piani dell'edificio<\/strong> in una sequenza di spazi molto diversi tra loro che creano un dialogo continuo tra ambienti domestici e spazi aperti. Stanze del piano nobile, saloni, anticamere, passaggi pi\u00f9 intimi e segreti, altri destinati ad attivit\u00e0 conviviali, alternati a imprevedibili spazi aperti, terrazzi e giardini pensili instaurano una relazione fluida tra l'interno e l'esterno. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Man mano che ci si addentra nelle stanze si aprono scorci sulla citt\u00e0 offrendo, soprattutto agli ultimi piani, viste mozzafiato e una visione panoramica di una Milano dall\u2019alto. Una passeggiata che ha il suo fulcro nella corte interna: una grande copertura vetrata dal forte disegno grafico<\/strong> la trasforma in uno spazio interno, inglobando gli elementi decorativi, le lesene e i fregi, destinati a decorare il prospetto interno. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u00c8 un palazzo\"<\/em>, racconta Van Duysen, \"ma nello stesso tempo un universo domestico, un luogo intimo che abbiamo voluto ricreare dentro un edificio monumentale di grande allure che sar\u00e0 la nostra casa.
