The creative duo Barbieri Magalini meets Cypriot<\/strong> architect and furniture designer Christine Kalia<\/strong>. The result is the installation \u201cSpecular Oasis\u201d (SPAZIO MM, via Maroncelli 3): a desert of sand from which a metallic modular sofa, designed by Christine Kalia, emerges, seemingly floating and transforming before the visitor\u2019s eyes<\/strong>. How did the idea for \u201cSpecular Oasis\u201d come about?<\/strong>
We wanted to create an immersive experience that challenges the perception of reality while reflecting on conviviality. We introduced an unexpected element into the heart of the city<\/strong> to evoke a sense of wonder. Hence, the choice to recreate a desert of sand as a stage, from which a metallic modular sofa emerges, appearing as a mirage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What role does design play in the project?<\/strong>
The sofa is not just a piece of furniture but the beating heart of the installation. Its seemingly inflatable and modular appearance, combined with its texture and shifting reflections<\/strong>, makes it almost a living entity, capable of transforming depending on the light and the viewer\u2019s perspective. It is designed to be experienced, touched, and explored. It is not just a seat but an experience that engages all the senses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What do you hope to convey to visitors?<\/strong>
The installation is an invitation to slow down and immerse oneself in a dimension where time and space are suspended. In an era dominated by speed and concreteness, we wanted to create an oasis of reflection and wonder. Come nasce l\u2019idea di \u201cSpecular Oasis\u201d?<\/strong>
Volevamo creare un\u2019esperienza immersiva che sfidasse la percezione del reale, riflettendo sulla convivialit\u00e0. Abbiamo portato un elemento inatteso nel cuore della citt\u00e0 per evocare un senso di meraviglia<\/strong>. Da qui la scelta di ricreare un deserto di sabbia come palcoscenico, dal quale far emergere un divano modulare metallico, come se fosse un miraggio<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Quale ruolo ha il design nel progetto?<\/strong>
Il divano non \u00e8 solo un oggetto d\u2019arredo, ma il cuore pulsante dell\u2019installazione. Il suo aspetto, apparentemente gonfiabile e modulare, unito alla texture e ai riflessi cangianti, lo rende quasi un essere vivente, capace di trasformarsi a seconda della luce e della prospettiva dell\u2019osservatore. \u00c8 pensato per essere vissuto, toccato, sperimentato<\/strong>. Non \u00e8 solo una seduta, ma un\u2019esperienza che coinvolge tutti i sensi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cosa volete trasmettere ai visitatori?<\/strong>
L\u2019installazione \u00e8 un invito a rallentare e immergersi in una dimensione in cui il tempo e lo spazio sono sospesi. In un\u2019epoca dominata dalla velocit\u00e0 e dalla concretezza, abbiamo voluto creare un\u2019oasi di riflessione e meraviglia.
