Orizzonti - The Brera Design Apartment up close

In reference to the theme of Fuorisalone 2025, “Connected Worlds,” here is the project by Zanellato/Bortotto studio.

Brera Design District presents “Orizzonti,” the new Brera Design Apartment installation by Zanellato/Bortotto studio with Nathalie Borgeaud: a true design manifesto that speaks of worlds, influences, visions, and connections, reflecting the studio’s distinctive style.

The apartment’s restyling showcases the designers’ ability to celebrate craftsmanship, artisanal quality, history, and the uniqueness of places, memory, and tradition. They achieve this through surfaces, colors, and materials, which serve as a medium to tell a new story.

The project, which both anticipates and extends beyond Milan Design Week, will be brought to life through talks, dinners, and meetings, all by appointment and invitation only for industry professionals selected by the project’s brand partners.

The main partners of ‘Orizzonti’ are: Bolzan and Botteganove, with the contribution of Artecasa.

The Brera Design Apartment is divided into six rooms:

Campi – Entrance

Luigi Ghirri’s interpretations of summer rural landscapes come to life through artisanal ceramic applications and a play of colors and textiles. The Alpes Inox steel kitchen counter is covered with hand-glazed refractory ceramic surfaces from the new collection designed by Chiara Andreatti for Botteganove. On the walls and floor, chromatic fields developed in collaboration with Rezina recreate tactile materiality. The flexible textile wall, part of Bolzan‘s Walls collection, is double-sided and covered with fabrics from Fischbacher 1819’s Nomad collection, also used for the curtains and the Ola stools by Saba. The space is illuminated by the Sottile lamp by Davide Groppi.

Barene – Dining room

A large portal leads to the dining room, where Virgilio Guidi’s paintings of the San Giorgio marina in Venice inspire the chromatic composition of the Sikkens-glazed walls. A wooden cabinet crafted by the historic Lunardelli Venezia carpentry workshop stands against the wall. At the center of the room, illuminated by the Moon lamp by Davide Groppi, is the Patio collection by Ethimo: a large travertine table with technical rope, surrounded by teak armchairs. In the background, a Sardinian pibiones tapestry by Saba, designed by Zanellato/Bortotto, echoes the patterns of lateen sails. The hues of the lagoon come to life on a wall covered with the precious tiles from Botteganove’s Barene collection, adorned with refined metallic lusters. The same glazes enhance the backrest of the new Clay armchair for Moroso, an unprecedented blend of artisanal ceramic surfaces and tailored upholstery.

Caìgo – Living area

Along the entire perimeter, defining this horizon with its elusive contours, a wooden shelf by Lunardelli Venezia supports and displays works and sculptures by contemporary artists. At the center, a pair of Vela sofas by Saba, upholstered in soft Fischbacher 1819 wool fabric, highlights the quilted pattern inspired by nautical aesthetics. Among them, resting on a hand-knotted wool rug from the Everyday collection by CC-Tapis, is a coffee table in Carnico Grey marble, produced by Delsavio 1910 with a Marble Marbling decoration. The same Friulian company also crafted the Cipollino marble surfaces that cover one of the room’s walls, using an exclusive stone shading technique. A custom sideboard by FENIX® features an inlay inspired by the horizons of old Japanese prints.

Deserto – Bedroom

The Namibian desert is evoked through warm tones and natural materials, starting with the large gradient wood paneling custom-made by FENIX®. This space is dedicated to rest, with the focal point being Bolzan’s wooden and wrought-iron bed. Also from the Venetian company, as part of the Walls catalog, a series of textile-clad walls featuring embroidered Fischbacher 1819 fabric conceals a wardrobe space using a folding door system. The floor is covered with a Radici carpet and a wool rug by CC-Tapis.

Spazio – Corridor

The backbone of the apartment, leading to the various rooms, is inspired by the view of a sunset from an airplane. The orange line marking the fiery horizon at dusk is achieved manually by blending shades of Rezina resins. Inside the wall niches, textured panels with iridescent reflections from the Arpa® collection frame a central three-dimensional composition made with Botteganove’s Salomè tiles.

Vulcano – Bathroom

Where the horizon sometimes takes on irregular shapes: the lunar landscape of Mount Etna inspired the design of this bathroom, clad in textured and iridescent mosaics with pigments derived from volcanic powders, showcasing a virtuous artisanal dialogue between Botteganove and Rezina. Completing the journey is the collection of bathroom furnishings and fixtures by Agape.
