Piscine Laghetto with its Spazio Brera showroom in Via Marsala 2, opened in May 2022, offers an overview of Home Design and in particular the Water-Lounge concept applied to above-ground pools. In 140 square metres of space, the brand is distinguished by refinement and elegance in the display of the products that are the protagonists of the collection, where water is the main element shaping the design for the realisation of a dream of wellbeing. An environment dedicated to the end customer who can touch the quality of the product, but also for design professionals. We talked about outdoor furniture during and after the pre-pandemic, technical and aesthetic innovation, materials and energy and water sustainability with Chiara Tonghini, Marketing and Communication Manager of the Fluidra Italia group.
The pandemic has highlighted the importance of outdoor living. What impact has this had on the growth of Piscines Laghetto?
During the pandemic, everyone wanted to enrich their garden or terrace with a water space, unable to travel or visit their favourite holiday destinations. This has created a lot of stress throughout the swimming pool industry, especially for above-ground pool manufacturers. Piscine Laghetto is a brand of products made in Italy in a way that is, in many senses, still artisanal, even though it is part of a multinational industrial group like Fluidra. Meeting market demands has been difficult throughout 2020 and 2021. The desire to experience the outdoors in an increasingly elegant way has not faded, however, and our sales continue to outpace the pandemic period.
How important is technological development for a company like Piscines Laghetto, so as to offer increasingly innovative solutions?
Although it is a handcrafted product, the Laghetto above-ground pool has Fluidra R&D behind it and this allows it to have high-performance filtration, heating and water management systems made by the leading industrial group in the swimming pool sector. Innovation will soon lead to totally connected pools, controlled and managed by the owner’s smartphone.
Speaking of innovation, how important is it for you to invest in research into new materials?
As already mentioned, research is a must for the group that owns Piscine Laghetto. Today, innovation must be technical but also aesthetic, and that’s why we are studying several new solutions for pool linings with materials that are high-performance because they are subjected to the elements on a daily basis (sun, wind, rain, etc.), and at the same time aesthetically pleasing and customisable, as well as sustainable. The goal of having a 100 per cent recyclable pool is one of the themes on which R&D is focusing.
For the 2023 edition, Brera Design Week proposes a reflection on how we imagine our future, our cohesion among living beings in relation to the uniqueness of the times in which we live. What are the projects with which you will participate?
For the Brera Design Week we are evaluating various proposals that will see us involved both within our showroom and in collaboration with other brands, in their showrooms and exhibition spaces, and this in line with the need to always create new connections between living beings with a careful eye on the planet that we will be bequeathing to our children; for this reason the theme of energy and water sustainability, a topic on which Fluidra has already been supporting numerous projects for years, will be the basis of our communication for the Brera Design Week as well.
