The statue with three breasts

The statue with three breasts

La Donna di trì tett, the most talked-about statue in Milan.

In a niche in the Tritoni fountain, between Via Andegari and Via Romagnosi, in the Brera district, there is a statue that caused quite a stir.
The statue was inaugurated in 1928 and was immediately, vulgarly, called ‘la donna di trì tett’ – the woman with three breasts, thus becoming part of the city’s tradition.

In reality, the third breast is nothing more than a round piggy bank that she holds in her hands as she is the ‘Saver Woman’.
